1/2 cup popcorn kernels (or about 10–12 cups of popped popcorn)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (or olive oil for a vegan version)
2 tablespoons Everything Bagel seasoning
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt (optional, depending on the saltiness of your seasoning blend)
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional, for a cheesy undertone)
Instructions
Start by popping your popcorn kernels using your preferred method. You can use an air popper, a stovetop pot with a little oil, or even a brown paper bag in the microwave. Once popped, transfer the popcorn into a very large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels that might be hiding at the bottom.
While the popcorn is still warm, melt your butter in a small microwave-safe bowl or in a small saucepan on the stove. If you are using nutritional yeast or extra salt, whisk them into the melted butter to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed throughout the fat.
Slowly drizzle about half of the melted butter over the popcorn. Give the bowl a good shake or use a large spoon to toss the kernels. This initial coat helps the seasoning adhere. Drizzle the remaining butter and toss again to ensure every piece has a light coating of moisture.
Sprinkle the Everything Bagel seasoning over the popcorn in stages. Add one tablespoon, toss well, then add the second tablespoon and toss again. This “staged seasoning” method prevents all the heavy seeds from falling straight to the bottom of the bowl and ensures a more uniform flavor experience.
