1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter (divided into 1 cup and 1/2 cup)
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan – Line an 8×8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Leave a little bit of paper hanging over the edges so you can easily lift the bars out later. This makes cutting them much cleaner and easier.
Step 2: Mix the Peanut Butter Base – In a medium mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, melted butter, and 1 cup of the creamy peanut butter. Stir everything together until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
Step 3: Press into the Pan – Transfer the peanut butter mixture into your prepared baking pan. Use a spatula or the back of a large spoon to press the mixture down firmly and evenly into the corners of the pan. Ensure the top is as flat as possible.
Step 4: Melt the Chocolate Topping – In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and the remaining 1/2 cup of peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is completely melted and glossy.
Step 5: Layer and Chill – Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the peanut butter base. Spread it out evenly with a spatula. Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate is firm and set.
Step 6: Slice and Serve – Once the bars are firm, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the block out of the pan. Use a sharp knife to cut them into 16 squares. If the chocolate is too hard, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before slicing.
